The kids get to learn a little about physics and have fun all that the same time! Plus it fits perfectly as a great game to keep the kids entertained while you are watching the BIG Game! Make sure they have a fun little cup of Goldfish crackers handy for reloading after launching. Spread out a fun Football field tablecloth and set up the goal post on one end and have the kids with the catapult at the other end. Not to mention they are light and fairly aerodynamic so they fly great! Seriously, my kids love snacking on Goldfish crackers. Why Goldfish crackers? Because they come in a handy big carton that is just perfect for Game Day! And because kids and adults alike love Goldfish crackers! Now you have your catapult and goal posts, now grab your favorite Goldfish crackers to launch! Simple as can be! It can now stand on it’s own! To make it so that the goal post can stand up on it’s own, I just stole borrowed a little ball of my daughter’s molding clay and formed it into a base and stuck the goal post into it. Place them to make a capital “T” shape using two sticks, then add the remaining two sticks vertically attached at the end of the horizontal stick. Now build the goal post! You will be using 4 sticks for this. You now have the catapult finished! Super easy!
If you want you can use another elastic band to secure it into place. Next place the stack of 8 sticks between the stack of two. Then place the bottle cap on one of the sticks in a stack of 2. Using the hot glue, place a dab of glue on the back of the bottle cap. Then stack 2 rubber bands together and secure on the end with another elastic band. First stack up 8 brown craft sticks and secure on each end with an elastic band. Then you will begin to build the catapult.
I used brown for the catapult and yellow for the goal post.
